AMU GIRLS ASKED NOT TO LEAVE HOSTEL?
The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) reportedly asked girl students to remain in their hostels on Wednesday. Though no official order was issued in this regard, the hostel warden and guard informed the students that they were not supposed to leave the campus during the day.
A few students posted on social media that they had been “confined”. One of them posted: “The outing of Abdullah Hall girls has been cancelled for Wednesday. Every year, if Wednesday or Sunday falls on February 14, the outing of Abdullah Hall residents is cancelled. ” Naima Gulrez, principal, Women’s College (AMU), said: “There is no such order prohibiting girls from going outside the hostel.” However, Islam, the guard posted at the main gate of the college, said he had been informed that the customary outing of girls on Wednesday had been cancelled on Wednesday, which will be allowed on Thursday. College authorities said hostellers were allowed two outings in a week – Wednesday and Sunday.
