Man who sup­plied arms to RSS leader’s killer ar­rested

MEERUT: An arms ped­dler who sup­plied weapons to the killers of Rashtriya Swayam­se­vak Sangh (RSS) leader Ravin­der Go­sai, 58, in Lud­hi­ana (Pun­jab) was ar­rested and handed over to a team of the Na­tional In­ves­ti­ga­tion Agency on Tues­day, po­lice said.

Su­per­in­ten­dent of po­lice (city) Maan Singh Chauhan said Parvez alias Pheru, a res­i­dent of Bud­hana Gate area, used to sup­ply arms in north­ern In­dia.

“He had no crim­i­nal record in Meerut and car­ried out il­le­gal ac­tiv­i­ties silently. His name sur­faced dur­ing in­ter­ro­ga­tion of peo­ple ar­rested in Pun­jab in con­nec­tion with the mur­der of RSS leader Ravin­der Go­sai on Oc­to­ber 17 last year. They told the po­lice that they re­ceived arms from Parvez,” Chauhan said.

A team of NIA raided Parvez’s house in De­cem­ber last year but he man­aged to es­cape. Act­ing on a tip off, a team of crime branch of­fi­cials con­ducted a raid on Tues­day and ar­rested him.

He was handed over to NIA team on Tues­day evening and was taken to Chandi­garh for fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Go­sai was shot dead by two as­sailants near his house in Lud­hi­ana on Oc­to­ber 17 last year.

The as­sailants pumped two bul­lets in his neck and back min­utes af­ter he came out of his house with his pet dog.
