Man who supplied arms to RSS leader’s killer arrested
MEERUT: An arms peddler who supplied weapons to the killers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ravinder Gosai, 58, in Ludhiana (Punjab) was arrested and handed over to a team of the National Investigation Agency on Tuesday, police said.
Superintendent of police (city) Maan Singh Chauhan said Parvez alias Pheru, a resident of Budhana Gate area, used to supply arms in northern India.
“He had no criminal record in Meerut and carried out illegal activities silently. His name surfaced during interrogation of people arrested in Punjab in connection with the murder of RSS leader Ravinder Gosai on October 17 last year. They told the police that they received arms from Parvez,” Chauhan said.
A team of NIA raided Parvez’s house in December last year but he managed to escape. Acting on a tip off, a team of crime branch officials conducted a raid on Tuesday and arrested him.
He was handed over to NIA team on Tuesday evening and was taken to Chandigarh for further investigation.
Gosai was shot dead by two assailants near his house in Ludhiana on October 17 last year.
The assailants pumped two bullets in his neck and back minutes after he came out of his house with his pet dog.
