Constable saves family from house on fire
LUCKNOW :The heroic actions of a police constable saved the life of six members of a family who got trapped in a house on fire in Chowk area here on Saturday.
The constable Sunny Saharawat broke into the house and rescued the family almost singlehandedly.
The 2016 batch constable who is posted at Pata Nala police outpost rushed to nearby building following information about a fire break out.
“There was too much smoke inside the building that made it impossible to see inside. People were calling for help but the gate was closed,” said Sunny who acted quickly and broke the glass window with his bare hands.
He injured his hand in the act but entered the building and focused on saving the residents. Later, a team from nearby police station also rushed to the spot to assist Sunny. Fire department was also alerted.
SP (West) Vikas Chandra Tripathi commended quick action taken by the constable. The officer has also recommended for rewarding Sunny for his bravery and announced his name for the best policeman of the month of Chowk police station.
Meanwhile, Sunny terms the act as his duty. “I only did what I was supposed to do. I just did my duty,” he said.
