CHANDIGARH: After his show of strength at Chappar Chiri two months ago, ousted Congress leader Jagmeet Singh Brar will hold another rally on Independence Day, to position himself as “political alternative” to the Akali-BJP combine and his old party in the 2017 Punjab elections.

“After my clarion call at Chappar Chiri to topple the corrupt government, I now invite all the honest and credible leaders of Punjab to unite under a mega alliance, whether they are from the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) or wanting to quit the SAD, the Congress, or the BJP,” Brar said at a press conference here on Monday.

Brar said his “Punjabi Lokhit Abhiyan” had received a good response at public meetings in Jalandhar and Bathinda, claiming nearly 4,000 people had joined him as workers. “I want the Punjab elections to be issue-based as opposed to personality-based,” he said.

He didn’t rule out floating a party or contesting the elections. ‘WILL EXPOSE CAPT FAMILY IN 15 DAYS’

Brar says that within 15 days, he will expose how “Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh and his family amassed illegal assets worth `861 crore”. “I will come out with paper evidence,” he said. “The enforcement directorate has grilled Raninder Singh (Captain’s son) for six hours (in the Foreign Exchange Management Act violation case). It is not a usual interrogation time.” BRAR JAITLEY’S NEW PRIVATE EYE: CAPT CHANDIGARH: Reacting to Jagmeet Brar’s claims that he was “collecting proof” of the foreign transactions and illegal assets of Captain Amarinder Singh’s family, the Punjab Congress president “congratulated” “seasoned politician” Brar for his “new assignment” as a “private detective of Union finance minister Arun Jaitley”.

“I can only wish him good luck in his new assignment. I am pleased to learn that he has found himself rehabilitated,” said Captain, reminding Brar that many people had volunteered for the job earlier and failed. PTI
