Canal breach floods 90 houses in Bathinda

: As many as 90 households were flooded following a breach in the mini canal at Sai Nagar Colony here on Friday.

A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the spot and evacuated people using boats.

SDM Sakshi Sawhney said no major loss of goods and life was reported. “To assess financial loss of farmers in the area, an assessment will be done on Saturday,” she added. While the cause of the breach hasn’t been ascertained yet, the repairing process was started by late afternoon. MP Harsimrat Badal met the affected families later on Friday evening and assured them of help.
