2 MOTORCYCLEBORNE MEN HAD OPENED FIRE ON A CASH COLLECTION VAN AT A TOLL PLAZA AND LOOTED AROUND ₹4.5 LAKH CASH

: Two motorcycle-borne men opened fire on a cash collection van at a toll plaza near Ochandi border in Sonepat on Sunday morning and robbed around ₹4.5 lakh in cash before fleeing the spot.

As per eyewitness accounts, two armed youths came on a numberless motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire at the cash van, pumping a bullet into the van security guard’s stomach. The assailants then robbed all the cash from the van and fled.

The injured security guard, identified as Dilbag Singh, was rushed to a government hospital in Delhi.

Meanwhile, the firing created confusion as police of both Delhi and Sonepat reached the spot to probe the matter. It was found that the toll plaza, belonging to Delhi MCD, was illegally functioning in Haryana.

“The incident brought to light that the toll plaza was being run illegally in the area of Haryana. We have taken up the matter with authorities concerned in Delhi,” said inspector Pardeep Singh, SHO of Kharkhoda police station.

He said they have registered a case against the two unknown men and a hunt has been launched to nab them.
