SIMI AC­TIVISTS GET 3­YEAR JAIL TERM FOR ANTI­MODI SLO­GANS

A lo­cal court here has sen­tenced 18 Stu­dents Is­lamic Move­ment of In­dia (SIMI) ac­tivists, in­clud­ing Abu Faisal to three years jail term for shout­ing anti-Modi and pro-Tal­iban slo­gans in­side the court premises in May 2014. On May 7, the SIMI ac­tivists had been pro­duced for hear­ing at the CJM and ADJ court and were be­ing taken back to prison when they started rais­ing slo­gans af­ter see­ing a group of me­dia per­sons. They shouted “Tal­iban zind­abad”, Pak­istan Zind­abad, “Ab Modi ki baari hai” and other anti-In­dia slo­gans. They had shouted the slo­gans at the en­trance of the court­room, and the po­lice some­how man­aged to push them in­side the wait­ing van.
