65­YR­OLD AM­RIT­SAR MAN BEATEN TO DEATH OVER PARK­ING TIFF WITH NEIGH­BOURS, 1 HELD

A man in his mid­six­ties died af­ter he was al­legedly beaten by his neigh­bours fol­low­ing a tiff over park­ing at An­garh lo­cal­ity of the city on Wed­nes­day evening.

The vic­tim, Gurmeet Singh, suf­fered se­ri­ous in­juries and was rushed to the Guru Nanak Dev Hospi­tal (GNDH), Am­rit­sar, where he was de­clared brought dead.

Po­lice have ar­rested Bal­winder Singh af­ter they booked him along with his brother Jas­bir Singh who is ab­scond­ing.

The vic­tim’s son Kul­want Singh in his com­plaint said at around 8.30pm, the two broth­ers came out­side his house and started hurl­ing abuses them over an Ac­tiva scooter parked there.

He said when his fa­ther went out to pacify them, the two thrashed him with a baseball bat and sticks. Re­ports said the ac­cused are re­lated to the vic­tim and the two fam­i­lies had fre­quent dis­putes over park­ing. A case un­der Sec­tion 302 (mur­der) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code was reg­is­tered at the Gate Hakima po­lice sta­tion.
