Sikh clergy meet­ing at Akal Takht to­day

Even as Master Jo­har Singh, pres­i­dent of man­ag­ing com­mit­tee of Gur­d­wara Ch­hota Ghal­lughara in Gurd­spur , ap­peared be­fore par­al­lel jathedars des­ig­nated at Sar­bat Khalsa, Akal Takht jathedar Giani Gur­bachan Singh is firm to meet the jathedars of all Takhts on Fri­day.

No­tably, Akal Takht had sum­moned Master Jo­har Singh on Oc­to­ber 13 to clar­ify his stance over the con­tro­versy that was trig­gered af­ter man­ag­ing com­mit­tee sec­re­tary Buta Singh, was caught in com­pro­mis­ing po­si­tion with a wo­man.

The is­sue is one of the ma­jor top­ics which is on meet­ing’s agenda. Ear­lier, Akal Takht jathedar had also sum­moned for­mer CM and Con­gress leader Ra­jin­der Kaur Bhat­tal and Ar­jun Singh Badal ( Man­preet Badal’s son) for not ap­pear­ing be­fore Takht to apol­o­gise for vis­it­ing the Sirsa dera, ahead of the as­sem­bly elec­tions early this year.

Although, the Takht did not ask them to ap­pear at a par­tic­u­lar time, but had asked to do so as early as pos­si­ble oth­er­wise face stern ac­tion.

If both don’t ap­pear, the high­est tem­po­ral seat may also take ac­tion in this re­gard.

Akal Takht had on April 17 had also awarded ‘tankhah’ to 39 po­lit­i­cal lead­ers af­ter find­ing them guilty of vi­o­lat­ing its May 2007 ‘hukam­nama’ to boy­cott dera head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh over his al­leged im­per­son­ation of Guru Gobind Singh.HTC
