Bail granted to Kashmiri photojournalist Kamran

-

NEW DELHI: A court on Monday granted bail to photojournalist Kamran Yousuf, accused of stone pelting in the Kashmir Valley.

Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Sherawat allowed the bail plea of Yousuf, asking him to furnish two sureties of ₹50,000.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on September 5 last year arrested Yousuf along with Javed Ahmad Bhat. He was booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act along with 11 other people.

Opposing the bail plea, the NIA said some witnesses had confirmed that Yousuf was shouting “anti-national slogans” and was seen “stone-pelting”.

J&K CM HAD SOUGHT RAJNATH’S INTERVENTION

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday had urged Union home minister Rajnath Singh to intervene in Yousuf’s case.

“Spoke to home minister @rajnathsingh ji to look into Kamran Yousuf’s case. I’ve requested him to intervene so that the life of a young budding journalist does not get ruined,” she tweeted.
