Sandeep Khirwar, the commissioner of police, assured safety and security of all the people working in the industrial belt and also of their family members. “The SIT formed under DCP (crime) will investigate the issues that led to the attack on the HR manager, the planning involved in the attack and trace those responsible. The team will probe the number of people involved and the source from where they procured the gun that was used in the attack. Besides, the SIT will also look into threat issued to the company through a letter on Tuesday,” Khirwar said.

The Japanese firm has also taken up the matter with the Haryana chief minister’s office and has also written to their embassy to ensure the safety and security of their employees, a senior employee of the company said, on the condition of anonymity.

The Bilaspur police filed two separate FIRs in the case – one on June 7 against eight people for attacking the HR manager and the second on Tuesday against an unknown person for sending a threat. Two persons, Joginder and his accomplice, Dayachand, were arrested on June 8 and sent to judicial custody.

Khirwar said he, along with the DCP, had visited Haryana Bhawan in Delhi on Saturday and held a meeting with officials of the Japan Embassy and Japanese industry representatives.

The Association of Industries and Institution on Wednesday issued a statement urging the state to maintain law and order in the industrial area.

“Private sector nowadays demands performance from employees and this man was apparently unfit for the job,” said HL Kumar, the president of the association.
