CHANDIGARH: Punjab has banned food products containing tobacco or nicotine as ingredients, irrespective of the way they are named, for one year. The move has been taken in pursuance of the Food Safety and Standards Regulations. Food and Drug Administration commissioner KS Pannu said this order was issued as manufacturers had been circumventing the ban on the sale of gutkha, manufacturers had been selling Paan Masala (without tobacco) and flavoured chewing tobacco in different sachets.
