FATE OF 200 CANDIDATES TO BE DECIDED IN SAMBA TODAY
After nine districts of Jammu region recorded healthy turnout of voters in first and second phase of urban body elections on October 8 and 10, Samba district will go to polls in third phase on Saturday amid tight security arrangements.
Samba deputy commissioner Sarita Chauhan said, “There are 31,878 voters in the district that include 16,308 male and 15,570 female voters.”
A total of 57 polling stations have been set up for 56 municipal wards, out of which seven have been classified as sensitive and four as hypersensitive.
A total of 242 candidates are in fray, including 56 of BJP, 52 of Congress, 21 of Panthers Party and 113 independent candidates.
Chauhan said that polling staff and paramilitary personnel have been dispatched to polling stations.
“Tight security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful polling,” she added.
The polling via EVMs will be held on Saturday from 6am to 4pm.
