Mumbai Police is probing the case of a “mischievous and false” message about Bollywood actor Salman Khan, which is circulating on popular chatting application WhatsApp.

A complaint in this regard was made on behalf of the 49-year-old actor, to the Mumbai Police. The message is related to his next film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, that is slated to hit the theatres on July 17.

“A written complaint was given more than a week ago by Khan’s manager, alleging that someone has tried to besmirch Salman’s reputation by circulating a false and mischievous post about him on WhatsApp,” said deputy commissioner of police, (detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni.

The case, in which no one has been arrested until now, is being probed by the Cyber Crime wing of the Crime Branch. The police declined to divulge the content of the post.

Kulkarni informed that investigations are on, but that no FIR has been registered.
