Actor Sonam Kapoor (above; right), who is actor Anil Kapoor’s daughter, was brought up among the Bollywood celebrities. And she says that it is exciting to work with people who have seen her grow up. A case in point is veteran actor

Shabana Azmi (above; left). Sonam, 30, has been shooting with Shabana, 64, for her upcoming film, a biopic on airhostess Neerja Bhanot, who died saving passengers in a terrorist attack on board in 1986. “She plays my mother in the film and it wasn’t difficult for us to develop the bond. She has seen me grow up, she has seen me when I was a kid in a chaddi (laughs),” she says.

In fact, Shabana called up Sonam’s dad to praise her. “Most actors get surprised when they see me act, because for them, I am still Anil’s kid. When she saw me act, she was really glad. She called up dad and said, ‘Sonam has grown up and she acts!’ That was really sweet of her,” says the Raanjhanaa actor.

And Sonam, who is also gearing up for her next release in which she stars alongside actor Salman Khan, says that it was “super-fun” to work with Shabana. “She is one the sweetest persons to work with. And she is a great human being too. I got to learn so much from her. And she does play my onscreen mother, but on the sets too, she was mother-like. It’s great to work with people who have known me since childhood,” she says.
