Ed Sheeran pens 50 songs for next al­bum

Sheeran (left) is hard at work on his next al­bum, fol­low­ing the suc­cess of his sec­ond full-length X last year. His first, ti­tled +, re­leased in 2011. And guess what, Sheeran says he has al­ready writ­ten about 50 songs for his third, even though he doesn’t want to re­lease the col­lec­tion any time soon, re­ports fe­male­first. co.uk.

“I’ve done 40, maybe more like 50 songs al­ready, and I’m not plan­ning to re­lease it for another year and a half, so I want to do a few more,” says the Think­ing Out Loud hit­maker, who ad­mits that he’s un­der “pres­sure” to live up to his fans’ ex­pec­ta­tions. “There is even more pres­sure now. When you have a whole com­pany depend­ing on one thing, if I don’t re­lease the goods, it’ll be awk­ward,” says the 24-year-old song­writer and singer, who is ru­moured to be dat­ing Ir­ish model Louise John­ston.

Sheeran adds that he has been tour­ing for “five years with­out a break” now and is hope­ful that he will be able to take a wellde­served one be­fore fi­nal­is­ing his al­bum.
