Now, Rajkummar Rao supports FTII students
Students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), who are protesting against the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the institute’s new chairman, have a supporter in actor
Rajkummar Rao (right). The latest Bollywood celeb to back the students, Rajkumar — an alumnus of FTII — posted on Twitter: “FTII needs to be in safe hands. Students need somebody who they can trust and look up to. It’s their future which is at stake here.”
The 30-year-old National Award-winner, who has starred in films like Love Sex aur Dhokha (2010), Shahid (2013), Queen (2014) and City-Lights (2014), passed out from the institute in 2008.
The students of the Pune-based institute have been boycotting classes and abandoning academic work to protest the “politically motivated” appointment of Chauhan, who according to them, lacks stature and vision to head the institution.
