Filmmaker David Dhawan (left) is impressed with how director Ananth Mahadevan’s (far left) upcoming film has turned out. The film is based on the life of freedom fighter Gaur Hari Das and Dhawan loved the trailer and called Mahadevan to congratulate him.

“I was pleasantly surprised to see David ji’s name flash on my phone… in his familiar warm tone, he went on to tell me how impressed he was by the trailer of my film and how the Das’ war seemed so relevant yet epic. He particularly mentioned the cuts in the trailer and the classy approach to the theme,” says Mahadevan, adding that he was happy to be praised by Dhawan: “It was so flattering to get compliments from an ace editor and director like him.” The filmmaker also expressed his desire to watch Mahadevan’s film. “He said he wanted to watch the film and complimented me on my growth as a filmmaker. His opinion was valuable because it meant the film had crossed over from critical acclaim in festivals to commercial acceptance,” says Mahadevan.
