American Olympic-winning athlete Caitlyn Jenner urged acceptance for all transgender people in her speech at the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (ESPY) Awards in Los Angeles, US, on Wednesday. “Trans people deserve something vital: your respect,” said Jenner, who was honoured with the Arthur Ashe Courage award and received a standing ovation after her speech.

American TV reality star Caitlyn Jenner (below) who won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award on Wednesday, said during her acceptance speech that she was very scared to come out in the public about being a transgender. “This transition has been harder on me than anything I can imagine,” she said, adding, “I never wanted to hurt anyone else, most of all my family and my kids.” Jenner further asked the audience to not bully the transgenders anymore. “If you want to call me names, make jokes and doubt my intentions, go ahead because the reality is I can take it,” she said. “But for thousands of kids out there coming to terms with the reality of who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it,” she added.
