(right) boasts of making her Broadway debut at the age of 15. Gillies, who has mostly been seen in comedy films or TV shows, says she loves the comedy genre and is not afraid of being typecast. “I think comedy might be the easiest genre for me to play. I like the timing of it and I am really comfortable doing comic roles. Having said that, I am not afraid of being typecast or anything. I do want to try out other genres as well. I would love to do a twisted role,” she says. Gillies will soon be seen in the upcoming American sitcom Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll. Although the show is about rock and roll, Gillies tells us she sang a song by popular RnB artist Aretha Franklin in her audition. “I know it wasn’t a typical rock number, but there was something about the way I sang it that convinced the show’s makers that I can sing that genre too,” she says.
