‘Every producer wants me to do comedy films’
While he has done serious films such as Badlapur (2015) and Mithiya (2008), actor
Vinay Pathak (left) is loved the most for his comic roles. The 47-year-old tells us that it’s very natural for people to typecast him, but he makes sure to not repeat a role that he has played before. “This is an industry norm. People think that I did Bheja Fry (2007) well and now every producer wants to do a Bheja Fry with me,” laughs Vinay.
The 47-year-old, who will be seen in the biopic of freedom fighter Gaur Hari Das, adds, “If you see the kind of films I have done, you will notice that I never repeat a role. I am clear about that.”
He says that shooting for the film was great. “It was fantastic. My director Ananth Mahadevan and co-actors, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Ranvir Shorey were so good ... they made it easy for me,” he says. About the kind of films he likes to take up, Vinay says: “The film can be a comedy or a thriller, but the script has to be interesting.” The actor also makes sure to promote all his films. “I don’t think you can ever take the audience for granted. My main aim before the release of any film is to make sure that maximum number of people get to know about the film and want to watch it,” he adds.
