Punit is living his dream
They say life always comes full circle, and that’s the case with choreographer Punit Pathak (right). The 30-year-old is now on the judges’ panel of a dance reality show on TV that he had once participated in as a contestant. And Pathak couldn’t have been happier about it. “I was speechless when I got this opportunity. It’s a dream come true to judge Dance India Dance. This is the show that had given me fame,” he says, adding that being a judge is not an easy task.
The choreographer has also acted in two dance-based films by choreographer-filmmaker Remo D’Souza, namely ABCD (2013) and ABCD 2 (2015). He played a deaf and mute character in the latter. He admits that it was a challenging role to play. “I got training for two months to get the character right by Sitaram, the same person who helped (actor) Ranbir Kapoor for Barfi!. I used to interact with deaf and mute students, go to their schools, spend time with them or sometimes they’d come to me,” he shares. So, what does he enjoy more — choreography or acting? “I love choreographing more than anything else, as it expresses my creative skills the best. I have choreographed for celebs such as Lauren Gottlieb, Mouni Roy and Anushka Manchanda.”
