Shah Rukh Khan’s friendship bands from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai may be a thing of the past, but the spirit of the bond is alive and kicking among students on campus who celebrate Friendship Day tomorrow.

While they may not be pleased about the fact that it falls on Sunday and prevents those first ‘hellos’ in classroom, the students have some cool stuff planned to keep their buddies happy. “We’re doing a get-together for our juniors and seniors to help them know each other,” says 19-year-old Hitanshu Dhingra, a student of SGTB Khalsa College.

Aman Bathla from College of Vocational Studies has made a flapbook for his friend. “I’ve made small cards in a series for my friend Nandita, and will dedicate it to her. Later, we will go for lunch,” he says. For Riya Chibber and her friends in Kamala Nehru College, it all comes down to coordination: “We will come dressed in blue, so that our group stands out from others.” Manya Chawla, a student of Institute of Home Economics, is treating her friends to a movie. “I will take all my seniors and juniors for a movie today. It is a day that will be celebrated with my friends as they are very special,” she says.
