Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s brother, director Shamas Siddiqui (inset), has been selected to showcase his film, Miyan Kal Aana, at the 39th Montreal World Film Festival to be held in Canada between August 27 and September 7. Nawaz, who is also the producer of the film, is happy for his brother.

“The film has been selected for the festival’s Focus On World Cinema category. The movie is about 18 minutes long, and it touches upon the Halala law in Islam. It was also received well at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. And now, making it to the Montreal World Film Festival is also an achievement for Shamas and Nawaz,” says a source close to Nawazuddin.

An excited Shamas says, “It’s a big honour for me to take my film to one of the finest and most reputed festivals. It is considered one of the top 10 film events in the world, and to have our movie screened there is a huge deal for us. I’m really excited. Events like these help us get the issues out there for the world audience.”
