Hindustan Times (Patna) - Live - - Entertainment -

After setting a start date, the upcoming superhero film Gambit has now suffered a major setback as its lead star Channing Tatum (above) has reportedly dropped out of the film. The deal between Tatum and the film studio is in serious jeopardy and may fall apart. The Hollywood star and his creative partner Reid Carolin were initially set to produce the movie, and it is not clear if the duo will still be involved in produc- ing capacity, or whether Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner will move forward without the help of other producers.

Latest news suggests that the Magic Mike actor had been involved with screen tests for the film’s female lead with Lea Seydoux in contention. Other sources close to the film’s crew suggest that director Rupert Wyatt will soon have to find a new leading man. As of now, plot and cast details of the film are still scarce. Gambit is set to hit US theatres in October 2016.

Tatum will next be seen in the Christmas release The Hateful Eight, alongside Samuel L Jackson and Kurt Russell. The 35-year-old will also co-star George Clooney and Scarlett Johansson in Hail Caesar which will arrive in February 2016. Representatives for Gambit’s production house and Tatum could not be contacted for a comment.
