usic can elevate anyone’s mood, and for actor Ashish Chowdhry (left), it is the magic of legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s (right) voice that lifts his spirits everytime. “I am a die-hard fan of Kishore da. No matter where I am or what I am doing, his songs have the power to make me feel happy. I remember, even during college, I used to hear his songs. That was the time when most of us were crazy for hard rock songs. But I can never be bored of him,” says Ashish, adding, “Ghungroo ki Tarah (Chor Machaye Shor) and Musafir Hoon Yaaron (Parichay) are my all time favourite tracks and among his movies, I really like his acting in Padosan (1968). I think he was a remarkable artist.” The 37-year-old actor, who is fond of singing as well, credits his father for his love for Kishore Kumar. “My father was very fond of music and he could have been a good playback singer had he pursued his passion. I am not as good as him,” he says. If ever given a chance to work in a remake of a Kishore Kumar film, Ashish says, “It will have to be Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958).”
