Natalie Portman pitches for equal pay for men and women in Hollywood

Black Swan actor Natalie Portman (left) has insisted that she is sick of the massive pay gap between men and women in Hollywood. “There is an outrageous discrepancy between men and women in Hollywood. Titanic becomes a huge hit and Leonardo DiCaprio immediately goes to $20 million (`127 crore) per movie and Kate Winslet doesn’t,” said the actor.

The 34-year-old went on to add, “That feels totally like it’s changing. Young women like Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart ... they’re stars now. I don’t even know who the guys are who are their age,” Portman said. The Closer actor, who is married to Benjamin Millepied and has a four-year-old son Aleph, is not worried about her own career anymore and accepts that there is going to be a time when her demand will be less. “I don’t get panicky, I know the waves ... sometimes it’s quiet, sometimes it’s wild. I feel like I’ve done so much, it allows me to try new things, like directing. I can follow my own curiosity. I’ve been doing this long enough to see that my path is my own. I’m not in a race with anyone,” she said.
