While many actors say that they want to wait for marriage because of their career, seasoned actor Anil Kapoor (right) says that although people advised him not to get hitched, he never shied away from marriage. The actor, who was recently in conversation with actor Anupam Kher on his ongoing TV talk show, spoke about how love and family always came before his career.

“Many people had advised me not to get married and maintain that playboy look, the bachelor image that I had, so that I could get more roles and be popular. I was at a point where I had to decide between career or love, and I chose love,” said Anil, who married Sunita Bhambhani in 1984.

The actor also added that arranging the marriage was not an easy affair. “I was considered a villain in Sunita’s house, because I had cancelled twice before going to her house to meet her family and ask for her hand. But the third time I went, I decided that I wanted us to marry the next day itself or never,” he said, adding that the wedding was a small affair with only family and close friends attending it.
