I’d love to do Tamil and Telugu films, but now is not the time for me to go there

Actor Akshara Haasan (left) wants to follow her elder sister, actor Shruti Haasan’s footsteps. The 23-year-old plans to establish herself in the Hindi film industry and then move to Tamil and Telugu films.

“I’d love to do Tamil and Telugu films, but now is not the time for me to go there. I’d like to find my feet in Bollywood first,” says Akshara, the daughter of veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika.

The actor even hopes to share screen space with her parents someday, but admits she has to work very hard to better her skills. “Both my parents are powerful and strong actors so, I need to up my game before I could dare to share the screen space with them,” says Akshara, who was last seen in filmmaker R Balki’s Shamitabh.

Talking about scripts, the actor adds that she chooses her own scripts, and consults her parents only if she is not sure. “I take my own decisions. My parents have always given me the opportunity to grow and decide things for myself,” says Akshara.

Ask her about her upcoming projects in Bollywood, and she says: “A few discussions are happening, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.”
