Known for playing Pinky bua in a comedy show on television, actor Upasna Singh (above) is used to experimenting with her look and trying on different get-ups. Now, she is set to don the khakhi, but for an upcoming movie. Upasna, who is very excited to play a policewoman, hopes that her audience will like her in this new avatar.

The actor, who has earlier worked in films such as Judaai (1997), Aitraaz (2004) and Jatt & Juliet (2012), says: “This is the first time that I’d be playing the challenging character of a female cop. People know me as the bubbly Pinky bua, so playing a policewoman is very different for me,” says Upasna, who will be seen in filmmaker Manwani Anand’s debut film.

The 40-year-old adds that to perfect her portrayal of the character, she watched many cop-based films. “I improvised my character to bring out the best and do justice to the role. I watched a lot of movies to understand how actors have earlier played a female cop,” says Upasna.
