He may be famous for his voice and numerous hits that he has delivered, but singer Kumar Sanu (left) wants to be known and remembered for his philanthropic work. Adding to the charity work he does, the 57-year-old singer has now opened a primary school for underprivileged children in the Capital. “I think only education can bring about a change in the mindset of people and uplift the underprivileged. Currently, we have opened a primary school in Karol Bagh and we are planning to apply for permission till VIII,” says Sanu who has named the school, Kumar Sanu Vidya Niketan.

Talking about the facilities in the school, he says, “We will provide uniforms and books free of cost. Apart from this we will also pay an amount to the parents of the students every month to motivate them to send their kids to school, instead of sending them to work.”
