Aruna and her ‘itch of acting’

She may not be seen very frequently on the silver screen, but Bollywood actor Aruna Irani (right) says that hasn’t lessened her thirst for good roles or made her complacent.

“No artist is ever satisfied. They want to keep working and by the grace of God, I have got a variety of roles. That ‘itch of acting’ is still there. The need to have a good role remains till the last breath,” says Irani, who was last seen in 2010 movie, Khatta Meetha.

The 63-year-old started working in television shows such as Dekha Ek Khwaab and Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki, and is glad that the film industry only focuses on talent.

“The best thing about our industry is that nobody asks you about your academic qualification. If you have talent in acting or singing, you can jump on board. Nobody will demand your degree and judge you based on how much you have achieved in school or college. Only talent is appreciated,” says Irani, who recently signed a project with filmmaker Subhash Singh.
