So­cial media laughs at Aamir’s tears

When ac­tor Aamir Khan broke down while watch­ing two re­cent films, Sal­man Khan-star­rer Ba­jrangi Bhai­jaan and Im­ran Khan and Kan­gana Ra­naut’s Katti Batti, lit­tle did he know that his tears would be­come fod­der for online jokes.

As news of the 50-year-old’s emo­tional out­bursts at the pre­miere of his nephew Im­ran’s film made way to the so­cial media, sev­eral peo­ple made fun of him. “Air Host­ess: Sir, would you like to have any­thing? Tea? Cof­fee? Juice?; Aamir Khan: Tis­sues (sic),” wrote one user. Another user de­cided to make fun of Aamir’s 2000 film, Mela. “Aamir Khan cries ev­ery time he watchs a bet­ter movie than Mela (sic),” the user wrote. Another user posted a fa­mous quote to make fun of him. “Aamir Khan hates walk­ing in the rain be­cause no­body can see him cry­ing,” the user wrote. A photo posted by one user shows Aamir in a swimming pool, and has been cap­tioned as, “Aamir about to drown in his own tears”.

As the trolling in­ten­si­fied and #aamirkhan started trend­ing on Mon­day, sev­eral pop­u­lar co­me­di­ans, too, joined in to have more fun. “What if Aamir Khan is just al­ler­gic to watch­ing movies?” tweeted Rohan Joshi. His AIB col­league Tan­may Bhatt wrote, “I’m so proud of him that he’s now man­ag­ing to watch stuff be­fore com­ment­ing. Big step for­ward.”
