Academy Award­win­ning ac­tor Cate Blanchett (right) will re­ceive the Bri­tish Film In­sti­tute’s high­est hon­our, the BFI Fel­low­ship, at this year’s Lon­don Film Fes­ti­val. The 46-year-old will re­ceive the hon­our at the BFI Lon­don Film Fes­ti­val’s awards cer­e­mony on Oc­to­ber 17, re­ported Va­ri­ety. Truth, star­ring her and Robert Red­ford, will have its UK pre­miere on the same night. Another film of Blanchette, Carol, which pre­miered at Cannes this year, will also get a gala screen­ing at the fes­ti­val. “Cate is a com­pelling and brave ac­tress whose mes­meris­ing screen pres­ence has cap­ti­vated au­di­ences since her ear­li­est roles. We are de­lighted to hon­our her ex­tra­or­di­nary tal­ents with a BFI Fel­low­ship at this year’s awards,” Greg Dyke, chair­man of the BFI, said in a state­ment. They also de­scribed her as a “fear­less and sub­tle ac­tress,” say­ing “she has the rare gift of seem­ing ut­terly to in­habit the char­ac­ters she plays and has an amaz­ing abil­ity to con­vey com­plex lay­ers of emo­tion to stun­ning ef­fect.”
