Em­raan talks about cop­ing with son’s ill­ness

Ac­tor Em­raan Hashmi (right), who fought a tough bat­tle last year when his son was di­ag­nosed with can­cer, re­cently shared his ex­pe­ri­ence at the Golden Ju­bilee Cel­e­bra­tion of the In­dian As­so­ci­a­tion of Pe­di­atric Sur­geons.

The 36-year-old was in­vited as a spe­cial guest to share the chal­lenges par­ents faces when their child has a termi- nal ill­ness. “Em­raan’s fiveyear-old son Ayaan, who was di­ag­nosed with an ill­ness last year, is now in re­mis­sion. He and his fam­ily went through emo­tional tur­moil last year when they got to know of Ayaan’s con­di­tion. The ac­tor shared his eye­open­ing ex­pe­ri­ences and mean­ing­ful in­sights,” says a source close to the ac­tor.

Em­raan had also an­nounced his de­ci­sion to write a book which would talk about ways to cope with this stress. “He will write about how to come to terms with this sit­u­a­tion. He hopes to pro­vide com­fort and guid­ance to those whose face sim­i­lar prob­lems in life,” adds the source.

Con­firm­ing the news, the ac­tor’s spokesper­son says, “Em­raan talked about his ex­pe­ri­ence as a par­ent of a child who’s un­der­gone a ma­jor surgery. He also stressed on the im­por­tance of a good pe­di­a­tri­cian who par­ents can work with.”
