She sang alongside singer Shankar Mahadevan in the song Sau Aansoon from Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut-starrer film Katti Batti (2015), and singer

Rasika Shekhar (right), a chemical engineer by training, says that destiny had chosen a different path for her.

“I happen to be a chemical engineer by degree but fate had something different in store for me. Here I am singing in movies,” says Rasika. Ask her about the journey so far and she shares, “In Dubai, which is where I was born, we were more into Bollywood songs but my growing up years in the US was more about being exposed to genres such as carnatic music, western classical and Indian classical. When I was in the final year of my college, I started touring with Ustad Gulam Ali Khan sahib, which was a beautiful experience.”

She adds, “Once I was done with my engineering, I decided to take six months off before I step into the professional world of chemicals. I came to India and trained in Hindustani music. It was here I realised that my interest for music is a lot more than what I thought would be and this is something I would want to pursue,” she adds.
