Gone are the days of the tightly-bound donut bun and a staple high ponytail when styling your updo. We’ve got Bollywood ladies giving us mane envy, alongwith ample beauty inspiration from across global runways.

From cornrow-style braids that add instant edge to any do, to the half-up top knot which looks hippie-pop perfect, we are lapping up some updo inspiration. One of our favourites though, has to be experimental braids. “The braided updo is simple for girls who’ve been doing these since they were at school. And for those who are new to it, this takes just turns of practice. All these style are messy, so they can be flaunted without having that element of being ‘proper’,” says beauty expert Bharti Taneja, adding: “These updos are usually quick to create. Plus, they require no re-touching through the day and can be worn for longer hours.” Check out some of our new favourites when it comes to stepping up the gas and switching to an experimental mane.
