Sushant Singh Rajput (far left) has been gearing up to play Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (left) in the biopic, directed by Neeraj Pandey. While there have been too many speculations about the film being delayed, a source close to the project insists that everything is on track. “The stories about the film being delayed because of sudden monetary issues is absolute nonsense. It is very much on schedule and will release sometime in mid-2016.”

Sushant has just cut his hair short to start filming for the younger portions in the film. Contrary to what is being reported, only Dhoni’s journey from becoming a captain to winning the World Cup will be depicted in the film. “There is no mention of his wife or his daughter Ziva in the film because the timeline ends in 2011 when the Indian team won the World Cup with Dhoni being the captain,” the source further reveals. Along with Dhoni, there will also be a lot of other cricketers seen throughout the film. “It is not possible to make a film on Dhoni without his friends. Almost the entire Indian cricket team will be seen in glimpses. While some have already shot for it, some are yet to film their sequences,” our source adds.
