I WANT TO DIRECT A FILM: ARJUN
The actor says that once he has learned the ropes of filmmaking, he will definitely don the director’s hat
Actor Arjun Kapoor (right) did not make inroads into Bollywood as an actor. The 30-year-old first worked as an assistant director in Nikhil Advani’s 2003 film Kal Ho Na Ho, and later in 2007, on Advani’s Salaam-E-Ishq, before debuting as an actor in Ishaqzaade (2012). And Arjun says that directing a film is definitely on his mind.
“I definitely want to direct (a film) and I know that I will. It’s just that I don’t have the time for that right now. I mean, I don’t know when I will do it and I don’t really want to force it,” he says, adding that for now, he just wants to concentrate on acting. “I’ve just figured out how to be an actor. And honestly, I am enjoying it. I am in love with every moment of it. Maybe, once I reach the crossroads, where I want to do something more than acting, maybe then,” he says explaining that he wants to try his hand in direction only after he learns more about the art of filmmaking. “See, to be a director you need to have all-round knowledge of filmmaking. Right now, I am going through a phase where I am
still learning. I want to learn a few more things, so that when I make a film, I am confident about making it. But, direction will be the next step, definitely. That’s how I see my evolution,” says Arjun, who will next be seen in a film with Kareena Kapoor Khan.
