The death of his stunt double while filming an action sequence for the 2002 film XXX made actor Vin Diesel (right) more serious about such scenes.

The 48-year-old action star now prefers to keep a check on security measures, stunt work and the rehearsals while working on action scenes, reported ET online. “There was a bad experience early on, where we lost one of the stunt guys; a guy named Harry O’Connor, who was a great guy on XXX,” Diesel said. O’Connor died during a rappelling stunt when he hit a bridge at high speed and was killed instantly. “That was a big eye opener for me and that made me focus on safety and rehearsal. I probably take the rehearsal of action sequences and choreography, that much more serious because of it,” he added.

Released in 2002, XXX went on to become a big box office success.
