Her films have shown her in many shades — good, bad and sometimes even ugly, but in real life Vidya Balan has been a very private person. However, the actor, who so far has shied away from social media, has finally decided to join Twitter.

An insider says, “Vidya has never been a social media person, and she is joining Twitter only because there are too many fake handles that exist and continue to tweet under her name. She wants to start on a happy note, and feels a memory from her childhood will be a delight to her fans. Her first tweet will be a black-and-white picture of her as a toddler, draped in a saree.”

The insider adds that she will use the microblogging platform as a way to interact with her fans. “This is a whole new world for her. She has always been aware of the platform, but before this, she never felt the need to personally be a part of it,” says the insider.

Vidya was unavailable for a comment, but her spokesperson confirmed the news, saying, “People want to discover Vidya better as a person, as she has always been in the news only for her professional achievements.”
