Bhansali surprises D’Souza
Remo D’Souza (inset), who recently choreographed for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s (left) upcoming film, Bajirao Mastani, says that he was surprised when the latter approached him for the film.
The filmmaker-choreographer, who is known for his urban dance style, was initially unsure about where his style would fit in the period drama starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, but Bhansali convinced him.
“Remo couldn’t believe his luck when Sanjay called him to choreograph two songs in his period drama,” says a source.
Confirming the news, Remo says he not only enjoyed the experience, but also ended up learning a lot from the project. “I was stumped when Sanjay (Leela) Bhansali asked me to choreograph the songs for Bajirao Mastani. I wanted to know how he thought of me for this when I’m identified with more urban choreography in songs like Disco Deewane and Badtameez Dil. But he said the challenge was in making me discard my image and do something totally unexpected,” says Remo, who has choreographed the songs Deewani Mastani and Pinga in the film.
