Animals hold a special place in Anushka Sharma’s heart. The actor, who supports several animal rights organisations, has been meeting government bodies to promote animal rights.

The 27-year-old is making an appeal for a pet-friendly Diwali this year through a social media campaign called Pawsitivity. Anushka wants to sensitise people towards the need for reducing noise and bursting of fire crackers for the sake of animals.

“Animals make this world a better place. Being sensitive towards them becomes our responsibility because they don’t have a voice of their own. Their welfare is one cause that’s close to my heart. But sometimes people are totally unaware of how their actions might affect animals. So creating awareness is very important,” says the actor, who is requesting people to create less noise this Diwali.

“When people burst fire crackers, they don’t think of how animals or birds get affected. I hope my message inspires some of us to care about animals, and make less noise this Diwali,” adds Anushka.
