TAAPSEE’S AWARA MOMENT
Actor Taapsee Pannu (right), who’s a big fan of Bollywood films of the 1950s and 60s, says a sequence in her upcoming project reminded her of a memorable moment from the hit film Awara (1951). In filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s next, Pannu shot a romantic scene in the rain.
“It's the first time I have shot a typical Bollywood romantic moment in the rain. My mind travelled back in time to that particular moment in Awara, which I believe every actor has seen and been in awe of. It (a love scene in the rain) might be a cliché but it still has the power to create that magic it did years back,” says Pannu, who has been part of Bollywood films such as Chashme Baddoor (2013) and Baby (2015).
“Tapsee was shooting with (actor) Amit Sadh, and the scene required them to walk in the rain. The set up reminded her of veteran stars Nargis and Raj Kapoor from Awara. She was very excited about the outcome of the scene. She wanted it to come out perfectly,” a source tells us. “The scene was shot in one take and was loved by everyone on the sets,” adds the source.
