While many celebs complain about their personal lives becoming public, Vidya Balan says that this is a small price to pay for stardom. The 37-year-old actor says that while there are some days when it gets challenging to always be in the public glare, on most days she enjoys it.

“I really enjoy being a public figure… I enjoy the acknowledgement, recognition and the privileges that it accords me and the respect and attention that I receive. There are times when you are exhausted or having a bad day and you want to be left alone. Probably that day, it gets to you. Otherwise, I’m quite okay with people being interested in my life… you chose this profession with your eyes wide open. You figure out a way to deal with things,” she says.

Vidya says that she has tried to keep herself as private as she can. “I just got on Twitter after all these years. I have figured out how to preserve myself and to not get effected by the insanity of this place,” she says.

However, being married to someone from the same industry can get challenging, says Vidya, who is married to producer Siddharth Roy Kapur. “It’s challenging when the two of you have demanding schedules and your lives intertwine. For example, if I don’t want to go to a particular place and Siddharth and I have both been invited. Probably, it would have been easier if I was single, if I had decided not to go for no apparent reason except that I didn’t feel like stepping out. Now that Siddharth and I are together and if he is going, then it becomes awkward. You don’t want to lie and people don’t appreciate you telling the truth,” she says.

Vidya says she will soon start work. “I’ll start shooting for a film which stars Amitabh Bachchan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, I have a special appearance,” she says.
