‘Humshakals was amazing on paper’

While she chooses her scripts carefully, actor Esha Gupta (right) says that there is no way of predicting how a film will fare at the box office. The actor says that while she liked the script of her film, Humshakals (2014), directed by Sajid Khan, she did not know that the movie would not be liked by the audience. “Humshakals was amazing on paper, but I guess films come with their own luck. Although I am very clear about the kind of films that I want to do, there are some things that are not in your control,” she says.

Talking about the parameters that she considers while signing a project, Esha says that she looks at the story and the director. “The basic thing that I see is the script and not the hero who I am working with. A great director also works. For example, if you see a film like Jab We Met, it is a simple story, but its director made it amazing,” she says.

While she is open to do something on television, Esha says that fiction shows are not her cup of tea. “I would love to be a part of an adventure or a sports show on the small screen, but I can’t be a part of a drama. That’s just not me. I have been a sports girl all my life and I also follow all sports. So, being a part of an adventure show would be interesting,” she says.
