Will they Bond?
The latest installment of the James Bond franchise just hit theatres in India. Over the years, apart from the buzz around the male protagonist, there has been much speculation over who plays the ‘Bond girl’ in these movies. Hollywood actresses who have been seen in the films in the recent past include Monica Bellucci, Halle Berry and Eva Green, among others. When we spoke to industry experts to understand which Indian heroine would be suitable to play the female lead, if a Bond movie was to be made in India, varied names poured in. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra says, “One person who would fit the mould is Kriti Sanon.”
Nandini Shrikent, casting director says, “Kangana Ranaut would be a good choice. She is very quirky and stylish. She can be a very good femme fatale in the film.” Trade expert Taran Adarsh’s vote goes for Katrina Kaif. “She can carry off the role really well, thanks to her westernised looks. Also, she has the kind of aura that is associated with being a Bond girl,” says Adarsh. Chhabra also thinks Deepika Padukone is a good choice. “She’s tall and beautiful, has lovely eyes, and is someone who will look good in action scenes,” he says.
