Actors and reallife couple Ram Kapoor (left) and Gautami Kapoor (inset left) have both worked their way up in showbiz and have balanced their personal and professional lives well. But Gautami tells us that their journey together would have been a rough one had they not been part of the same industry.

“Had I not been an actor, I don’t think I would have understood Ram’s work schedule. Had Ram not been an actor, it would have been difficult for him to understand what I was doing. So coming from the same industry has helped us understand the advantages and disadvantages of being an actor. We are patient and tolerant,” says Gautami, who tied the knot with her Ghar Ek Mandir (TV show) costar in 2003.

Gautami, who took a sabbatical of eight years to take care of their children — Sia, 9 and Aks 6 — will now be seen in a daily soap based on the experiences of parenting.

“I took a step back from work when I realised our children needed me and Ram was at the top of his game. Now, I have started facing the camera again and Ram is the one who is taking things slow and spending time with the kids,” she says.

Her television shows include Kehta Hai Dil and Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
