If you don’t get the work you want, maybe it is time to do something new

Vidya Balan, actor

Success to actor Vidya Balan (right) means being able to make her own choices. “Success really means that doors open up for you. It means that you can make your choices even more confidently and unapologetically. That’s what it means to me at least. It gives you the option to make the choices that you wish to make. It gives you the power to do that,” she says.

Talking about the kind of films she likes to take up, Balan says everyone has a specific kind of film that they want to do, but if it’s not working at the box office, maybe its time to change it. “It’s an unpredictable industry, but life is unpredictable and that is what makes it interesting. If there is a prospect of not getting the kind of work you want to do, maybe it’s time for you to do something new. Maybe the kind of work you want to do is not happening because you are meant to do something else,” she says.

Vidya also feels that this is the right time to be a part of the industry. “I think things are really changing. The wide variety of roles that are being written for women or the kind of films being made, makes this an exciting time,” says Vidya.
