SAIF ALI KHAN
I remember growing up in my grandmother’s palace in Bhopal. She was a devout Muslim, and during Eid, our relatives and cousins would visit. This meant a small fortune in eidi (a gift/money given to children by elders of the family on Eid), which would increase my interest in the proceedings. But the most fun part was watching the cannon in the courtyard be fired to signal the time for iftar. I’d go to the servants’ quarters to eat with Suriya (the maid who would look after him).
